The first official challenge of the year for runners of all skill levels is this Saturday in Emmetsburg with the running of the annual O'Round the Loch Runs. The events will take place, regardless of weather conditions, starting at 8:30 a.m. with the 13.1-mile Half-Marathon.
Action continues at 8:40 a.m. with the start of the 10K event, which is followed by the 5K start at 9 a.m. and the 1.7-mile Fun Run/Walk at 9:10 a.m. All races will start and conclude at the Iowa Lakes Community College Campus.
Participants may register starting at 7 a.m. the day of the race in the Smith Wellness Center Gymnasium. However, T-shirt size cannot be guaranteed for registrations received after March 13.
Awards will be handed out at the conclusion of each race in the Arthur and Audrey Smith Wellness Center Gymnasium. Trophies will be awarded to the overall men's and women's 1.7 Mile Fun Run/Walk, 5K, 10K, and 1/2 marathon race. Medals will be awarded for first place, second place and third place finishers in each age division-13 & under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 & 60 and over.
All runners and participants are reminded that pets are not allowed in the events. Strollers are allowed for the 1.7 only and will start at the back of the group.
