A celebration of life service for Brenda Steffens of Emmetsburg was held Friday, March 10, at the Joyce Funeral Home in Emmetsburg.
Brenda Anne (Seufert) Steffens, the daughter of William Joseph and Marie Elizabeth (Keuter) Seufert was born Sept. 24, 1960 in Creston. She attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic School before attending Denison Community High School. Brenda left high school in September of her senior year to marry Jimmie David Steffens on Oct. 7, 1979. She continued her studies and received her GED before her classmates graduated.
After moving to the area, Brenda worked in licensure at the Wild Rose Casino in Emmetsburg, and Kathleen's Residential Care Center. She was working at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg as a dietary aide at the time of her illness.
Brenda enjoyed going to casinos, gambling, shopping for every deal she could find and using all of her coupons. She loved the smell of lilacs, the sweetness of chocolate and more than anything being with her family and going to all of their activities while they were growing up.
On Wednesday, March 8, 2017, Brenda passed away at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg with her son Jimmie at her side.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Samara Marie Steffens of Des Moines, Francine Ruth Steffens of Emmetsburg, John David Steffens of Mallard, Billie Jo Steffens of Whittemore, and Jimmie David Steffens of Emmetsburg; her mother, Marie Elizabeth Adkins of Woodbine; grandsons: Chance Steffens and Micah and Bronson Steffens; her brother, Clayton of North Charleston, SC; her sisters: Lorri Seufert of Hudson, FL, Jill Simons of Dow City, and Monica Wilson of Greenfield.
