GRAETTINGER -- A Celebration of Life for Richard L. Duus was held Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the United Methodist Church in Graettinger.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the United Methodist Church in Graettinger with Pastor Lana Williams officiating
Interment was in St. Paul's of South Walnut Cemetery, Graettinger. The Henry-Olson Funeral Home in Graettinger was in charge of arrangements.
Richard L. Duus, the son of Andrew and Marie (Simonson) Duus, was born May 10, 1922 in rural Graettinger. He died on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017 at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg at age 94.
He received his education in a country school near Graettinger.
On Nov. 20, 1953 he was united in marriage to Marvis Luhman in Graettinger. The couple made their home and Richard farmed his entire life near Graettinger. For hobbies, he enjoyed fishing, and re- finishing antiques that he purchased at auctions, but farming was always Richard's passion.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Graettinger.
Left to cherish Richard's memory are his wife, Marvis of Graettinger; children, Kirk (Deb) Duus of Piconning, MI; Debra Tweedy of Dallas, TX; Kristyn Simington of Emmetsburg; Kevin (Tracey) Duus of Graettinger; 10 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and sister, Virginia Norland of Emmetsburg.
He has been preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Randy Simington and sister, Elvera Anderson.
