HARTLEY - The Titan boys of Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire opened Class 1A District tournament play Monday night with a 49-38 win over Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn. The win propels the Titans into a meeting with George-Little Rock in George tonight, Thursday, Feb. 16.
The Titans got off to a slow start in Monday's contest at Hartley, falling behind the host Hawks by an 8-5 margin after the first quarter of play. But after trailing early in the second frame, the Titans offense came to life and quickly caught the Hawks, and took a four-point, 22-18 lead at the halftime break.
In the second half of play, the Titans and Hawks continued to battle evenly through the quarter, but the Titans would hold a 39-34 advantage to start the final quarter and held on to earn the 49-38 win.

Tommy Geelan led the Titans with 22 points, while Jacob Conlon added eight points. Sam Skattebo and Brady Rosacker both scored seven points each in the winning effort, while Jordan Thompson came off the bench to drain a three-pointers and Eric Sundall chipped in two points.
The win improves Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire to a mark of 8-13 on the season.
