PAULLINA - Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks opened post-season play Saturday with a 33-23 win over South O'Brien. The win improved Emmetsburg to 7-15 overall and 3-11 in the Lakes Conference.
Emmetsburg would take an early 10-8 lead in the contest, as they struggled against South O'Brien's zone defense at times, but were able to return the favor defensively. The Lady E-Hawks would lead 21-15 at the half time break, getting a huge momentum boost when Gretchen Hofstad put up a shot from behind the halfcourt line that banged home at the horn.
But in the third quarter, both teams would struggle offensively to score five points each, with Emmetsburg leading 26-20 to start the final quarter. The Lady E-Hawks would limit South O'Brien to three points in the final stanza to record the 33-23 win.

For Emmetsburg, Bailey Naig led the offense with 11 points, while Molly Schany added seven markers and Kayla Joyce came away with six points. Gretchen Hofstad and Parker Traub both drained three-pointers each, while Raven Brown added two points and Lindsay Carter chipped in a free throw.
Next up for Emmetsburg is a Tuesday night contest (Tonight, Feb. 14) at Armstrong against North Union. Tip is at 7 p.m.
