Tradition Of Giving Continues In Ruthven

January 3, 2017
Emmetsburg News

RUTHVEN The tradition of the Sharing Tree continued this Christmas season in the community of Ruthven.

The Iowa State Bank in Ruthven has been giving gifts to residents at the Ruthven Community Care Center, Assisted Living Center and RCCC Villa for over a decade.

This year, Iowa State Bank and the Ruthven-Ayrshire Community School teamed up to spread the Christmas spirit. Junior high students greeted the residents of the Care Center, Assisted Living Center and RCC?Villla and hand-delivered Christmas presents along with bank employees. The students closed out the day of giving with some Christmas carols.

The Sharing Tree has been displayed in the Iowa State Bank lobby since 2003. The Sharing Tree features a list of items needed by the residents of the Community Care Center, Assisted Living Center and RCCC Villa. Gifts are listed by name for each resident of the facilities, along with gift suggestions.

Thanks to the donations of individuals and organizations, the Iowa State Bank was able to give 69 residents gifts for Christmas.

"I couldn't be more thankful this Christmas. Being able to give back to the community is a great way to start the Christmas giving. Thank you to those who donated to continue this year's Sharing Tree," said Jan Helmke of the Iowa State Bank. The Sharing Tree will continue its tradition next year thanks to the generosity of the local residents."
