Funeral service for Edward Lewis is Wednesday, Dec. 21, at 10:30 a.m. at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Curtis DeFord will officiate.

Interment will be in Silver Lake Cemetery, Ayrshire. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.

Edward Wayne Lewis, son of Charles Gaylord and Joanne (Mortenson) Lewis, was born on Aug. 5, 1956 in Spencer. He attended school at Clay Central and South Clay, graduating from South Clay Community School in 1975.

Ed enlisted in the United States Army on June 5, 1979, serving as part of the military police and was honorably discharged on May 9, 1985. After returning from the service he worked as a security guard at Horizons Unlimited and as a courier.

Ed enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, taking care of his cats and working on projects around the house.

On Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, Ed passed away at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, at the age of 60. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his son, Chris (Kacie) Lewis of West Branch; siblings, David (Peg) Lewis of Cylinder, Randy (Cara) Lewis of Emmetsburg, and Janna Sembach of Ft. Madison; granddaughter, Addalyn Lewis of West Branch; and many other relatives and friends.
