Dixie F. Vesey 1942-2016

Funeral service for Dixie Vesey of Cylinder will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, at the Evangelical Free Church in Algona. Pastor Brock Youngren will officiate.

Interment is in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg.

Visitation is Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg.

Dixie Florence Vesey, daughter of Lillian V. (Thornton) and William H. King, Sr., was born Feb. 8, 1942 in Emmetsburg. She received her education in Emmetsburg.

On June 18, 1961, Dixie was united in marriage to Everett Vesey at the Methodist Church in Fillmore, MN. To this union three children were born.

Dixie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She and Everett owned and operated the Economy Grocery Store in Wykoff, MN, for over 28 years. Dixie loved caring for her grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed playing with them.

After selling their grocery store, Dixie and Everett moved to Palo Alto County making their home near Cylinder.

Dixie passed away Friday, Oct. 21, 2016 at Good Samaritan Home in Algona, at the age of 74. She was preceded in death by her parents; seven sisters, Iotha Baker, Rosetta Kremer, Kathy Boitnott, Irene Munden, Donna Studer, Virginia Fokken, and Garnett Craig; and four brothers, William H. King, Jr., Kenneth King, Cecil "Bud" King, and James King.

She is survived by her husband, Everett of Cylinder; her children, Matthew (LeAnn) Vesey of Curlew, Melaine (Harvey) Hart of Dover, MN, and Paul (Tami) Vesey of Lakefield, MN; eight grandchildren; two step grandsons; and three great grandchildren.
