Senior Center Welcomes Guests

December 3, 2014
Emmetsburg News

To the Editor:

There was more going on than just voting the night of November 4th! There were lights on and people coming and going from the Multi-Purpose Senior Center.

Palo Alto County Council on Aging was having their first of what we hope may become an annual Soup Supper. There was Chicken Noodle Soup and Chili with bars and cookies of many kinds. It was very good and from the number of times some people filled their bowls I think they must have agreed with me. Pretty sure no one left hungry! I believe it turned out to be an enjoyable evening for many.

For those attending, there was no cooking, no dishes, good food and great company. What a good use for this facility. A nice size dining room to serve lots of people without feeling crowded.

Palo Alto County Council on Aging would like to thank everyone who attended our Soup Supper along with those who made donations of food or worked at filling up the soup bowls and washing the dishes!! All of you made it a success and a great get together.

If you haven't been to the Senior Center lately, for lunch, think about trying it! The Rack Shack caters a very good noon meal. The menus are in the weekly paper and you just need to call the day before or by 9 a.m. that day to ensure there are enough meals. Feel free to bring a friend. You don't have to be a senior to attend the noon meals.

Everyone and all ages are welcome. Ages 60 and over may contribute what they feel is fair. The money collected for the meals goes toward the meals. It does not go toward any operational costs of the Multi-Purpose Senior Center. The Palo Alto County Council on Aging must rely on your support through donations, contributions and our fund raisers in order to provide services to the people who come for a meal and spend some time with good friends and good company. We are now in the process of planning something for early spring and hope you will join us!

Again, Thank You to those you came out on Election night to eat soup with us and we hope to see you again soon with some new and fun things!
