New Events At The Senior Center

Emmetsburg News

To the Editor:

On Wednesday, September 24th, the Palo Alto County Council on Aging held a High Tea at the Senior Center. What a nice facility to have an event like this. I think I can speak for everyone that day when I say "What a great time it was!"

It seemed to me that everyone, whether they were serving tea or sitting down enjoying the tea, was having an enjoyable afternoon break with friends. Palo Alto County Council on Aging would like to thank everyone who attended our High Tea, along with those who made cash donations, donated food and the people who worked at keeping the tea cups and plates filled with goodies. All of you made it a success and a great get together. We look forward to doing other things at the Senior Center throughout the year and hope for your continued support to help keep the doors open for our seniors who use this great facility.

Consider coming to the Senior Center for lunch. The Rack Shack caters a very good noon meal. The menus are in the weekly paper and you just need to call the day before or by 9 a.m. that day to ensure there are enough meals. Feel free to bring a friend. You do not need to be a senior to attend the noon meals. Everyone and all ages are welcome. Ages 60 and over may contribute what they feel is fair.

The money collected for the meals goes toward the meals. It does not go toward any operational costs of the Senior Center. The Palo Alto County Council on Aging must rely on your support through donations, contributions and our fund raisers in order to provide our services. Your Donations are very much appreciated and may be made at any time by sending a check to the Palo Alto County Council on Aging, Multipurpose Senior Center, 2008 11th St, Emmetsburg, IA 50536.

The facility is also available for rent for your own celebrations or parties. Anyone wishing to rent the center can call (712) 852-3350 to make arrangements.

Please watch for additional Fund Raising Activities that will be sponsored by the Palo Alto County Council on Aging and happening at the Center as we are now in the process of planning a soup supper on Election night, November 4th.

Again, Thank You for the great turnout at the High Tea and we hope to see you again soon with some new and fun things!
