GRAETTINGER -- A Mass of Christian Burial for Bernice Weber was held Friday, Aug. 24, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Graettinger. The Rev. Merlin Schrad was Celebrant.
Interment was in St. Jacob's Catholic Cemetery, Graettinger. The Henry-Olson Funeral Home in Graettinger was in charge of arrangements.
Bernice Elizabeth (Mahan) Weber, the daughter of James and Alice (Bradley) Mahan, was born May 27, 1933, in Graettinger. She passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, at her home in Graettinger at the age of 81.
She received her education in the Graettinger schools, graduating from Graettinger High School.
On March 1, 1954, Bernice was united in marriage to Gerald Weber in Graettinger. The couple made their home in Graettinger where they began raising their family and Bernice was employed with the Estherville Telephone Company and Berkley's in Emmetsburg.
Bernice and Gerald enjoyed years of traveling to almost every state in the union including Ala-ska. They also traveled to Canada, Mexico and Europe. While in Europe, they visited Germany and connected with both sides of their family. They especially enjoyed spending the cold winter months in warm, sunny Texas and eventually purchased a winter home in Raymondville, TX. Gerald died on Jan. 2, 2014.
Bernice was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters and Rosary Society in Graettinger.
Left to cherish Bernice's memory are her children, Michele Erickson, husband, Steve of Estherville and their children, Katie, Jim, Craig, Betsey and Nick; Coleen Duhn, husband, Randy of Graettinger and their children, Jared and Jessica; Diana Mortimore, husband, Jeff of Estherville and their children, Tessa and Megan; Becky Borneke, husband, Pat of Janesville, MN and their children, Chance and Mac; Suzie Weber and special friend, Vincent Spallo of Kansas City, MO and her children, Sarah and Nicole; her siblings, Alice Jo Gibson, Lois Weber and her husband, Richard; Jim Mahan; Don Mahan and his wife, Susie; Leo Mahan and Dorothy Cooper and her husband, Dean and nine great grandchildren.
Preceding Bernice in death were her husband, infant daughter, Katherine; parents and siblings, Evelyn Petersen; Rozella Loder; Francis Mundon; and James and Alice Mahan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Avera Holy Family Hospice.
