Funeral service for Thomas A. Pettit is today, Thursday, Aug. 28, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Emmetsburg. The Rev. Clem Currans is the celebrant.
Inurnment will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Emmetsburg. Martin-Mattice Funeral Home, Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.
Thomas Anthony Pettit, son of Claude and Marie (Frederick) Pettit, was born Feb. 19, 1960 in Hollywood, CA. He attended school in Granada Hills, CA and graduated from Edward C. Reed High School in Sparks, NV.
After moving to Palo Alto County, Tom worked at various jobs in the area. He owned and operated a bar in Ayrshire and bartended at the Wild Rose Casino and Dublins. He also was employed at Joyces Foodland and the Coke and Pepsi distributors in the area. Tom worked for Great Lakes Aviation in Spencer.
When Tom had free time he loved to go fishing doing woodworking projects. Tom enjoyed golfing and telling stories. Tom's sense of humor will be remembered by his friends and family.
Tom was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg and Knights of Columbus.
Tom passed away Friday, Aug. 22, 2014 in Estherville, at the age of 54. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Marie; sisters and brother, Alice McEvoy Blackstock, Robert "Bob" Pettit, Mary Blake, and his first wife, Daphne.
He is survived by his children, Jason Pettit of Sacramento, CA, Addam Pettit of Los Angeles, CA and Alyssa Pettit of Emmetsburg; one grandchild, Jadyn Pettit; two brothers, Don Pettit of Reno, NV and Claude Pettit, Jr. of Spencer; two sisters, Claudia Liessmann of Ruthven, and Pati Crowell of Mohave Valley, AZ; Alyssa's mother, Shari Pettit of Emmetsburg; nieces, nephews, cousins.
