FENTON A funeral service for Rachel Krause, will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fenton. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Fenton.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the church in Fenton and will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Rachel Mildred Krause was born Oct. 13, 1929, on the family farm near Fenton, daughter of Walter and Alice (Kresensky) Weisbrod. She grew up near Fenton attending school in Fenton, Burt, and graduating from Algona High School. She attended college for a short time in Fort Dodge.
Rachel was married to Robert Krause on Jan. 16, 1949, at Good Hope Methodist Church. They farmed in the Fenton and in 2011 they moved into Fenton. Rachel loved being with her family. She raised Yorkshire Terrier Puppies for 40 years and operated antique booths in several communities. She enjoyed refinishing and reupholstering furniture and collecting old dolls and beautiful glassware. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was very active in the choir. She was also a member of the Ranney-Weisbrod American Legion Auxiliary; and the 4-7 Club.
Rachel died Sunday morning, Aug. 3, 2014 at her residence in Fenton. She was 84.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert Krause of Fenton; four children, Robert A. (Vicky) Krause of Des Moines, Anne (Don) Swift, of Yankton, SD, Alice (Rex) Spicer of Solon, and John (Kelly) Krause of Santee, CA; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, Laurel Krause of Los Angeles, CA, Janelle Krause of Tucson, AZ, Elizabeth (Richard) Thomas of Kirksville, MO and their son William, Rebecca (fianc Sean Covel) Swift of Spear Fish, SD and her daughters Logan and Quinn, Sarah (Shawn) Morgan of Madison, AL and their children, Isaac, Zayne, Hanadi, Asia, and Mai, and Steve (Kelley) Troeh of Lemoore, CA and their children Sarina and Timmy. She is also survived by a sister, Ruth Ohl of Long Beach, CA; a sister-in-law, Kathryn Krause of Fenton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Scott Spicer; and four siblings, Verona McGovern, Isabelle Weisbrod, David Weisbrod, and Helena Dodds.
