Funeral service for Daisy Rouse was held Friday, Aug. 1, at the United Methodist Church in Ayrshire. The Rev. Carolyn Hollar officiated.
Inurnment was in Silver Lake Cemetery, Ayrshire. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Daisy Ruth (Higbie) Rouse, daughter of Harry and Maude Higbie, was born Jan. 15, 1930, in Sauk Centre, MN. She began her education in Sauk Centre and later her family moved to Estherville where Daisy graduated from Estherville High School. As a young girl, Daisy worked at the 5 and Dime store in Estherville. She later became a nurse's aid and was employed at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.
On Nov. 18, 1956, Daisy was united in marriage to Eldon Rouse at the Methodist Church in Estherville. Together they raised seven children. Daisy was a cook at the Ayrshire School and later cooked for the Senior Center in Spencer.
She was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church in Ayrshire where she taught Sunday School for many years and was active in United Methodist Women and Dorcas Circle. Daisy had been a Cub Scout Den leader and a member of the Music Boosters group for the school when her children were young.
Daisy passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the Spencer Municipal Hospital at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, and a granddaughter.
She is survived by her husband, Eldon, of Spencer; her children, Brenda Chown (Curt), of Lone Tree; David Rouse, of California; Karen Johnson (Lloyd), of Iowa City; Roger Rouse (Delana), of Morse, LA; Jim Rouse (Roni), of Monroe; Kimberly Stoever (Tim), of Spencer; Kelley Krick (Kelly), of South Orange, NJ; daughter-in-law, Jean Swenson, of Spencer; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews: as well as many other relatives and friends.
