The Palo Alto Gun Club will offer an August trap shoot mini-league starting Wednesday August 6 and continuing each Wednesday through the month of August.
The league program will consist of 50 targets from the 16 yd line on the first two weeks, and 50 "international" targets in weeks three and four. Participants will be able to shoot ahead or back if unable to attend each week. A nominal target fee will be collected for each participant, with divisions with reduced rates for youth shooters in high school and younger.
A meal will also be provided on week four for all participants at which time league awards and prizes will be given.
This league format is an excellent opportunity for newcomers to the sport to learn trap shooting fundamentals for minimal time and financial commitment. The Palo Alto Gun Club would welcome any new shooters to come, learn, and enjoy this sport at one of the most complete shooting facilities in northwest Iowa.
Certified instructors and coaches will be present to assist new shooters with proper techniques and safety procedures. A fall skeet league will be scheduled soon, and a sporting clays shoot is planned as well. Watch for further details.
The Palo Alto Gun Club operates the trap, skeet, sporting clays, and rifle ranges at Sportsman Recreation Area, which is located five miles east of Emmetsburg, or three miles north of Cylinder. An annual membership to the Palo Alto Gun Club is required to use any of the ranges.
