The Emmetsburg Community Recreation Department will be offering a youth volleyball program this Fall for girls in grades one through six, with sessions to be offered on Saturday mornings, as well as Tuesday and Thursday afternoons in September and October.
The Lady E-Hawk Youth Volleyball program is designed to teach the proper techniques, basic rules and the fundamentals of the game of volleyball. The program will promote the concepts of teamwork and sportsmanship.
This program is endorsed by Emmetsburg Lady E-Hawk Head Volleyball Coach Tim Rodemeyer, who will coach the program along with assistance from other Lady E-Hawk coaches as well as Lady E-Hawk volleyball players.
The program will be held in the Emmetsburg Middle School and West Elementary gymnasiums. Sessions will begin on Sept. 2 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday evening with fifth and sixth graders at the Middle School gym, while third and fourth graders will meet at the West Elementary gym.
Saturday sessions will begin on Sept. 6 and will start at 9 a.m. for fifth and sixth graders; 10:10 a.m. for third and fourth graders and 11:15 a.m. for first and second graders. Saturday sessions will be conducted at the West Elementary gym.
All participants that attend at least 90 percent of the sessions will receive an official Lady E-Hawk Youth Volleyball Shirt and all sixth graders attending 90 percent of the sessions will receive their own volleyball.
