Genevieve M. Kinnetz 1936-2014

Funeral service for Genevieve M. Kinnetz will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Nicholas Thackery will officiate.

Interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Ruthven. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Genevieve Mae Kinnetz, daughter of Hugh "Bud" and Myrtle (Bigger) Galbraith, was born May 14, 1936 on a farm south of Ruthven. She graduated from Graettinger High School in 1955.

On June 19, 1955 Gen was united in marriage to Elmer R. Kinnetz at the Methodist Church in Graettinger.

Gen was employed at Kathleen's Residential Care Facility for 18 years as a nurse's aid and later worked at SNC until it closed. Gen then worked at Wild Rose Casino for two years before her retirement in May 2012.

Gen was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post #162 in Graettinger where she was very active.

Gen died Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital, at the age of 78. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert Kinnetz; a brother, Hugh Gailbraith; great grandson, Harold DeMoss; two nephews; and a niece.

She is survived by her husband, Elmer of Emmetsburg; her children, Ed Kinnetz of Mallard, Brenda DeMoss (Doug) of Austin, MN, Kevin Kinnetz (Linda) of Ayrshire, Jolene Bates (Jon) of Maysville, MO and John Kinnetz (Jessica) of Ruthven; 19 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; two brothers, Lester Galbraith (Pam) of Tucson, AZ and Bobby Gailbraith of Hager City, WI; two sisters, Delores Kinnetz (Ron) of Eyota, MN and Judy Anderson of Mantorville, MN; nieces and nephews.
