Nick Steinkamp was honored for his years of service on Emmetsburg Municipal Utilities Board of Trustees when he stepped down after nearly 12 years on the board. A presentation was made during the Friday morning Chamber Coffee at the EMU office.
"It has been a great honor to work with Nick," said Deb Davis, chairman of EMU Board of Trustees. "He's been a great asset to the board."
Steinkamp was named a Trustee when the board switched from three members to five members, Davis pointed out.
"He will be deeply missed," she said. "He has been very instrumental in the accomplishments this board has made over the years. Thank you so much for your years of service"
Steinkamp offered his thanks.
"Thanks to everybody at the city," he said. "We have great employees, a great utility and a great town. Thank you for letting me serve."
Steinkamp said the new water plant was a huge project, with a lot of years in the planning. There have also been several modifications to the sewer plant during his term.
"In recent years, we have brought consistency in policy to the board and we have been making improvements to the infrastructure," he said. "When we do street projects, we make infrastructure improvements. I think we have a great infrastructure program going."
