Dakotah M. Collins 1994-2014

Dakotah Micheal Collins was born Dec. 21, 1994 in Denison to Tami Russmann and Kevin Collins. He passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014 in Milford at the age of 19.

He was baptized at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dow City and received his first communion and confirmation at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison and was an active member there. Dakotah received his education at Denison High School, graduating with the class of 2013. He was attending college at Iowa Central in Fort Dodge, studying Criminal Justice. He worked for various local construction companies shingling roofs during the summer. Most currently he was working in Okoboji at several establishments as a server and bartender.

Dakotah was active in sports, medaling in wrestling, football and track. He loved fishing in the Crawford County area or wherever he could find that "special pond." He enjoyed annual snowmobile trips to Laramie, WY and summer trips to Wisconsin Dells with his dad and brother, Ethan. He also valued time spent with family and friends, offering a smile to anyone, whether he knew them or not.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, David; and his aunt, Barbara. Dakotah is survived by his mother, Tami; his father, Kevin; Dakotah's girlfriend, Morgan Vlasman of Emmetsberg; four siblings, Ethan, Sierra, Dreyven and Brandon; grandparents, Roger and Mary Ann and Patricia and Lee Haberberger; former foster family, Gail, Steve, Tyson, Brea, Chase, Cody and Stevie; many relatives and countless friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, July 12, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison.Father Paul Kelly served as Celebrant of the Mass with interment in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in Denison. Organist Jean Cornelius provided accompani- ment for the St. Rose of Lima Choir. Dianne Bruck, Judy Groth, and Larry Schwarte served as Eucharistic Ministers, Morgan and Miranda Vlasman served as gift bearers, Josef and Ana Rogers were altar servers, and Joan Rosch served as the lector. Pallbearers were Tanner Bremser, Shawn Freeman, Tate Shattuck, Joshua Gotto, Cody Harris, and Chad Riley. Friday services included a Legion of Mary Rosary and Scripture Prayer Service by Fr. Kelly. The family invited everyone to the Parish Center to join them in fellowship and lunch served by the Altar Society. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
