Racing action continued Sunday, June 8 at the Emmetsburg Raceway with the Napa Auto Parts Special. Strong fields in four classes produced a fast-paced program for both the racers and fans.
In the Putt Putt class, 10 carts turned out, which brought two features for the class, with Donivan Christenson and Landon Strube each picking up heat wins. In the first feature Donivan Christenson picked up his second win of the season over Kailen Krug. In the second feature Landon Strube was making a bid for the win but Carson Schmitt would have none of that and after two laps of side-by-side racing, Schmitt would prevail to take the checkers.
Next came the high flying Rookie class where Dylan Wickman was able to get a clean sweep by outrunning Sam Schmitt and Talon Priester at the finish. Dylan also is point leader after two races with 109 points. Second place is a tie between Sam Schmitt and Tate Bieret as both have 95 points.
Carson Gunnerson brought the Junior One class to the start of the A Feature and led early before getting into a mishap with Cade Hart, forcing both carts to restart at the rear of the field. On the restart Gunnerson marched back to the front to secure his first win of the season with Weston Long again coming home second and Andrew Sullivan finishing third. Gunnerson is point leader with 105 points and is followed by Joseph Bonnstetter with 105 points and Weston Long with 90 points.
In the Adult Animal class Christian Sylvester and Michael Wetherell both picked up heat wins. However when the feature rolled around the crowd watched as Michael Wetherell and Nathan McKeever battled till midway through the race when the lead changed and McKeever took the point and held off Wetherell's challenge to collect his second win of the year. Christian Sylvester would finish third. Michael Wetherell is point leader with 107 points, while Nathan McKeever is second with 52 points in the Animal class and leads the Medium class with 55 points. Sara Dirks holds third place in the Animal class with 51 points.
Brian Nellis picked up the win in the Clone Class and is point leader with 110 points, while Rebecca Bonnstetter picked up Junior Two win and is point leader with 107 points and Trey Herrig is second with 54 points.
