Tina J. Pippert 1962-2014

Emmetsburg News

DYSART -- Tina Jay Pippert passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, June 6, 2014, at her home in Dysart. She was 51.

Funeral service was held Monday, June 9, at Zion Lutheran Church in Dysart. Burial was in the Dysart Cemetery. Overton Funeral Home, Dysart, was in charge of arrangements.

Tina Jay Pippert was born on Nov. 15, 1962, in Emmetsburg, the daughter of Louis and Barbara (Hall) Papadakes. She grew up in Emmetsburg and graduated from Emmetsburg High School. Tina worked in medical transcription, was a human resource coordinator for BPI, a deli manager, and most recently worked on her farm. Tina often said, "I was born to be on the farm."

She was married to Marty Hast, and they had two children, Calvin and Emily.

On June 24, 1999, she was united in marriage to John Pippert at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Tina enjoyed canning, being outside, mowing, planting flowers, her boxers, Boomer and Angus, and her cat, Taibo.

Most importantly, Tina loved being with her family. She did things her way, never doing anything small; it was always on a big scale.

She fought an incredibly courageous two-year battle with cancer, in spite of doctors originally giving her two months to live, rewriting the book for cancer survivors.

Tina was preceded in death by her father, Louis Papadakes and her step father, Jerry Hofstad.

She is survived by her mother, Barbara Hofstad of Emmetsburg; her husband, John of Dysart; a son, Calvin (Jenna) Hast of Kansas City; a daughter, Emily Hast of Iowa City; two brothers, Nick Papadakes of Wadsworth, IL and Charles Papadakes of Breaux Bridge, LA; three step-children, Brian, Amanda and Melissa; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Tina won her fight, living to see her son get married and her daughter graduate as an oncology nurse. We know she is with the family that passed before us in the eternal kingdom with our Heavenly Father. We will miss you until we see you again in Heaven.

The family requests memorials be made to the Make a Wish Foundation in Tina's name.
