One might think that if something is bad, then after 15 years a change might be in order. But when BAD is very good, 15 years is something to celebrate!
The 15th Annual B.A.D. Golf event, Friday, June 6, promises to provide everyone with the perfect opportunity on a relaxing Friday afternoon for a round of fun, fellowship and some golf tossed in. The only requirement is that all participants must promise to be BAD - and have a good time with it!
BAD Golf is sponsored annually by the Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce, with this year's event set for next Friday, June 6 at the Five Island Golf Club in Emmetsburg. But don't let the name fool you however - BAD Golf actually stands for Business Appreciation Day. The event is open to golfers of all skills and abilities.
The BAD Golf tournament is a nine-hole, best-shot format with numerous prizes being awarded. The proceeds from this 15th edition of BAD golf will be donated to Emmetsburg's Fellowship Uniting Emerging Leaders, or FUEL program, for the group's ongoing Community Beautification Program, which provides flowers for the planters located throughout the business district.
Holes in the tournament are sponsored by area businesses that receive incentives for their level of sponsorship support, ranging from a free registration for a four-person team down to a free registration for a single golfer.
All golfers playing in BAD Golf XV will receive a ticket upon registration to enter in the grand prize drawing for a 50" TV! There will also be flight prizes for the top three levels of four two-day RoseFest passes at the Wild Rose Casino and Resort and Chamber Bucks as well as prizes for all attendees.
Registration for BAD Golf XV (15) will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, June 7, at the Five Island Golf Club, with a shotgun start to the event at 3 p.m. At the conclusion of the tournament, the Palo Alto County Cattlemen will fire up the grill for some fresh, hot ribeye steak sandwiches.
The original BAD Golf outing began back in 1999 as a way of bringing business people and area residents together for an afternoon of fellowship and has grown into a very popular activity of the Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds from the event got to the Chamber's yearly Community Beautification efforts.
If you need to practice your putting, chipping or excuses, or just want to go out and have a fun round of golf, just be BAD on June 6. To sign up your four-person teams or to sponsor a hole, contact the Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce at 712-852-2283. In case of snow or other inclement weather, BAD Golf will take place on Friday, June 13.
