EAGLE?GROVE - The golf season came to a close Tuesday afternoon for Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks in Class 2A Regional action. The Lady E-Hawks would finish third behind Dike-New Hartford with a 349 and Alta-Aurelia with a 363 as Emmetsburg shot a 385 and West Marshall shot a 450.
Individually, Emmetsburg's Ashton Connelly missed qualifying for the state tournament by one stroke with a 91. Katie Ruiz would follow with a 96, while Michaela Rehm and Allison Freeman both shot rounds of 99. Staci Schmeling carded a 103 and Sarah Pugh would round out the scoring with a 107.
"This was s tough regional, with the first, second and fourth place teams from last year's state tournament playing in Alta-Aurelia, Dike-New Hartford and us,"?noted Emmetsburg Head Coach Ted Riley. "We shot one stroke higher than what we shot to win the Lakes Conference tournament, so I can't help but be very proud of the way these girls played Tuesday and all season."

"Both Staci and Josie have provided great leadership to our program and we will miss their contributions next season, but we have a good nucleus of players returning for next season," Riley added.
