Taking THE Plunge!

May 15, 2014
Emmetsburg News
THE POLAR PLUNGE has been going on at Five Island Lake for the past several months, all for the benefit of Landon Charles Shaw. This baby from Missouri is fighting cancer. Challenges have been issued nationwide to raise funds to help Landon and his family. The staff at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg challenged the staff at the Emmetsburg Care Center. On Tuesday, May 6, when the temperature was 54-degrees, Emmetsburg Care Center staff took the plunge into the chilly waters of Five Island Lake. Some ran into the water, others walked, but they all were in and out in a hurry. Those who were brave enough to enter the water were:?Tammy Shimon, Administrator; Kasey Sandbulte, Directior of Nursing; Lori Morey, Marketing Coordinator; Diana Ayers, Dietary Manager; Heather Updyke, RN; Jackie Lowman, Housekeeping/Laundry/Dietary; Cassie Jespersen, Certified Nurse Aide/CMA; April Johnson, Certified Nurse Aide; Michelle Woodward, Laundry; and Tatum Luchsinger, Human Resource Coordinator. Additional staff members were waiting on shore with blankets and towels as dripping wet, cold Care Center staffers came running.
