Graettinger-Terril /Ruthven-Ayrshire's Titan boys competed in the Cornbelt Conference track meet on Tuesday, May 6 and finished in second place overall for the final league meet.
"Our boys again ran extremely well and did everything they could do to pull this off," noted GT/RA Head Coach Dave Peterson. "I am extremely proud to be part of this team these boys have put in the work and should be proud of the way they represent the schools and community."
Earning first place for the Titans was Sam George in the 3200 meter run with a time of 13:19. Marcus Girres also collected a pair of first place finishes, taking the 800 meter run in 2:12, and also winning the 100 meter dash with a new GT/RA school record time of :11.60. Michael Girres also earned a first place finish for the Titans in the 400 meter dash with a :56.08.
Jake Wegner would finish second in the high jump, clearing 5'4" and in the shot put, Cody Thompson earned second with a throw of 39'7". The Titans' 4x800 relay, comprised of Michael Girres, Eric Sundall, Tyler Hoffman and Ethan Eldridge, took second with a 10:04 clocking. Ethan Eldridge finished second in the 400 meter dash with a :57.24 clocking and Marcus Girres set a new school record with his :23.37 time in the 200 meters, good for second place.
In the long jump Jake Wegner placed third with a 17'7" leap, while Michael Girres turned in an :11.19 time to finish third in the 100 meter dash. The Shuttle Hurdle relay, made up of Kyle Dalen, Jake Wegner, Eric Sundall and Tyler Hoffman, set a new school record with their 1:19 clocking to finish third.
In the 800 meter run, Ethan Eldridge placed third in a time of 2:23 and Eric Sundall finished third in the 1600 meters with a 5:31 effort. The Medley relay, with Ethan Eldridge, Marcus Girres, Kyle Dalen and Garrett Parker, took third with a 4:58 time and the 4x400 relay, comprised of Ethan Petersen, Justin Rodrigues, Garrett Parker and Tyler Hoffman, took third place with their 4:21 clocking.
Fourth place honors went to Kyle Dalen in the long jump with a 17'5", while Cody Thompson set a new school record in the discus, throwing the platter 97'5.5". The 4x200 relay, with Jon Georgopolous, Justin Rodrigues, Garrett Parker and Ethan Petersen, turned in a time of 1:45 to finish fourth, and in the 110 hurdles, Tyler Hoffman's :19.7 time set a new school record with the fourth place finish.
Eric Sundall placed fourth in the 400 hurdles with his 1:10 clocking and the Titans' 4x100 relay, Jon Georgopolous, Jake Wegner, Justin Rodrigues and Ethan Petersen, too k fourth in ;51.1.
Rounding out the placings for GT/RA were Garrett Parker in the 3200 meter run with his 14:34 effort for fifth place and Michael Girres' :24.41 time in the 200 meters to finish fifth.
