The City appears to be on a course to put a 'fresh coat of paint' in our downtown area.
Focus is also pointed to erecting a new Community Building.
I would like to add a new project to that list of 'things to do' based on the following question:
"When we have companies and business executives fly in to evaluate Emmetsburg to determine whether they should consider our town to expand their business, what is the very first thing they see when leaving the airport?" An auto salvage lot. Let's install a privacy fence. First impressions are lasting impressions.
Item #2 - One of the most traveled roads in the summer time is the gravel road between the railroad trestle and Huron Street, near Sewell Park. I've witnessed walkers, joggers, dog walkers, bicyclist using that road in the evenings - including motor vehicles, mopeds, motorcycles, etc. It's a nice road to travel down and view the lake.
However, we have people choking on the dust emitted from the gravel on that city street. Request the City Leaders and Street Department to 'fix the problem' by applying 'dust control' will correct the problem.
Let's put that on the 'to do list'
