The Emmetsburg Community School District has announced that Dan Voigt has been named the 2014 Honorary Referee for the Clint Stille Relays. The Relays will be held today, Tuesday, April 29.
A tremendous supporter of the E-Hawk community, Dan Voigt, has donated countless hours to many of the E-Hawk Activities as both a volunteer and as a journalist and photographer for the Emmetsburg Reporter/Democrat.
Dan began covering E-Hawk athletics in 1991 and has been a part of 21 Clint Stille Relays! Over the past 23 years, Dan has covered E-Hawks athletics both home and away, seldom missing an event or activity. But his countless volunteer efforts are what set Mr. Voigt aside from the rest. Dan also serves as the Public Address Announcer at all E-Hawk Softball, Baseball, Wrestling, Volleyball and Boys and Girls Basketball contests, all while photographing and writing about the players and their efforts. He is also a major contributor at the E-Hawk Wrestling program where he also assists in the stat-keeping for the wrestlers. Dan also serves as the "sound engineer" for the EHS High Voltage and EHS Black and Golf Show Choir groups.
Dan was named to the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame in 2008 and was named the recipient of the Iowa High School Athletic Association's Wrestling News Media Award winner in 2010. Dan was awarded the Iowa Governor's Volunteer Service Award in 2012 for his service to the Emmetsburg Community School District.
In the community, Dan serves as the Treasurer of the Palo Alto County Fair Association and is active with numerous events through the year, including the annual St. Patrick's Celebrations, Emmetsburg Catholic Schools Auction Fest, Emmetsburg Flight Breakfast and Graettinger Labor Day Celebrations.
