If I were mayor I would help bring my community more tourism. It is important because it would bring more cash flow into our city. The local business would support it because they would be getting more money into their business.
I would increase tourism by setting up more camp grounds, enhancing our wildlife, creating trails, and set up some family fun zones. I would fund this by setting up fundraisers, increase sales tax, writing grants, and use tax money that the town already has. Hopefully this would bring in more businesses and more profit for the community.
If I were mayor I would also build an outdoor pool. This is important because the community would get to be outside and it would bring people from different communities to our pool. The community would support it because the businesses would get more profit coming through their stores.
Clayton Swanson and his Emmetsburg 7th Grade class participated in the League of Cities’ annual “If I?Were Mayor”?essay competition. All of the student essays were reviewed by Mayor Myrna Heddinger, City Administrator John Bird, City Clerk Kim Kibbie and City Comptroller Jill Kliegl. Clayton’s essay was chosen as the local winner.

I would accomplish this by applying for grants and using some tax money. The community would benefit from this because the business would get more money and the town would get more money also and that is what I would do if I were mayor.
