SPENCER West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate's Wolverine track and field squad competed at the Clay Central-Everly Relays last Friday and came home with several first place finishes for their efforts. As a team, the Wolverines would finish second overall in the team race behind North Union.
Davey Jergens would be a double winner, as he captured the top finish in the 100 meter dash with an :11.7 clocking and then won the 200 meter dash with a time of :23.4. Nolan Grimm was the other individual champion for the Wolverines, as he took first place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:20.6.
The Wolverines' 4x200 relay, comprised of Travis Fehr, Nolan Grimm, Jeff Riesenberg and Jesse Zinnel took top honors with a 1:40.38 clocking and the 4x800 relay, made up of Jeff Riesenberg, Nolan Grimm, Harmon Atwood and Jesse Zinnel, took first place with their 9:18.17 clocking.
In the Long Jump, Nolan Dahlhauser took second place, leaping 18'3" and the Wolverines' Medley Relay, with Travis Fehr, Davey Jergens, Jeff Riesenberg and Jesse Zinnel, earned the runner-up finish with a time of 4:02.
Travis Fehr would finish third in the 100 meter dash with an :11.99 effort and then took third in the 200 meter dash with a time of :24.4. The 4x400 relay, comprised of Jeff Riesenberg, Nolan Dahlhauser, Harmon Atwood and Jesse Zinnel also finished third with their time of 4:00.
The 4x100 relay, made up of Nolan Dahlhauser, Colton Wickman, Max Lehner and Harmon Atwood, finished fourth on Friday with a time of :51.2 and Colton Wickman earned a fifth place finish in the discus with a throw of 90'6" to round out the Wolverines' placings.
"We did really well with only nine guys to compete," noted WBM/GCB Coach Jerry Vanderhorst. "Davey Jergens ran well in his races, as did Harmon Atwood. It was a perfect night to run and we lowered our times in a few events. Nolan Dahlhauser also jumped well in the long jump and it was just a good night all around."
