"After the announcement that Emmetsburg would be the overnight host town for RAGBRAI on Monday, July 21, you may have received calls from people coming to town during RAGBRAI asking about housing. We ask you to direct them to the Emmetsburg RAGBRAI Housing Committee so the committee can add them to the housing request list," said Jeremy Ward, Housing Committee Chair. "By going through the formal process we can insure that all guests are registered participants in RAGBRAI."
If a rider is unregistered, that means they have not signed the RAGBRAI Waiver and Release of Liability. Therefore anyone in the community who houses unregistered riders opens themselves to full liability for whatever may happen when that riders is at their home.
"Please notify the RAGBRAI Housing Chair if you have already accepted riders to be guests in your home," said Ward. "If you have agreed to accept a rider who had not registered and signed a waiver of liability, you could be personally accepting the risk, in some cases, of having strangers stay in your home."
Those who are interested in volunteering to be a host for riders or have riders lined up to stay with them, please visit emmetsburg.com/ and print out the RAGBRAI XLII Host Sign-Up Form. Please fill this out and send via e-mail, fax, or by mail according to contact information on the form.
