LAKE PARK - Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire pulled off the mild upset as the edged Harris-Lake Park 48-46 in Class 1A Regional quarterfinal action Tuesday night. Next up is a Regional Semi-Final at Newell this Friday at 7 p.m. against Newell-Fonda.
GT/RA would trail the Wolves by five at halftime, 29-24, but an injury to H-LP's Noreen Morrow allowed the Titans to claw their way back into the game to trail 36-34 at the end of the third quarter.
In the final quarter, the two teams fought down to the wire, but a free throw by Brooke Hoffman put GT/RA up 48-46 with just seconds to go and a defensive steal by Lauren Flaharty iced the win.
For the Titans, Marly Bakken led the offense with 14 points, while Grace Skattebo and Alex Oleson both scored 11 points each. Katie Olesen added five tallies, while Lauren Flaharty chipped in four points. Morgan McGrauth added a bucket for two points and Brooke Hoffman added the big free throw for one point at the end of the game.
"Coming down the stretch, it was back-and-forth," G-T/R-A coach Todd Hough said. "We were able to make some plays down at the end to get on top. We struggled there a couple of times, but we managed to pull it out. Give all the credit to the girls. They played their tails off."
