by Dan Voigt , Emmetsburg News

ALGONA - The Titans of Graettinger-Terril /Ruthven-Ayrshire opened the post-season Thursday with a 54-47 win over Bishop Garrigan in Class 1A girls regional action. Next up for the Titans will be a re-match with Harris-Lake Park tonight (Tuesday) at 7 p.m.

The Titans wasted little time jumping out to a 20-7 lead over the Golden Bears at the end of the first quarter of play Thursday, but their offense slowed in the second quarter as Bishop Garrigan outscored the Titans 18-13 for a 33-25 tally at half-time.

In the second half, GT/RA would outscore the Golden Bears 13-9 to take a 46-34 lead to start the final quarter, and held off a determined rally down the stretch to record the 54-47 victory.
