Larry Vanderhoff 1940-2014

Funeral service for Larry Vanderhoff was held Wed-nesday, Feb. 5, at the ?United Methodist Church in Gillett Grove.

Inurnment was in Logan Township Cemetery, Gillett Grove. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Larry Ray Harold Vanderhoff, son of Harold E. and Neva (Lawrence) Vanderhoff, was born Feb. 19, 1940, southwest of Ruthven. He received his education in Gillett Grove. Larry served in the Iowa National Guard being discharged in 1965.

On March 4, 1960, Larry was united in marriage to Anna Walrath at the Methodist Church in Terrill. Larry farmed near Ruthven and later worked at 4 Sons and Casey's Store in Spencer, the Spencer Packing Plant, Red Giant Oil Company in Omaha and did maintenance work at the South Park Mall in Spencer until health reasons forced him to retire.

Larry passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 at the Palo Alto County Hospital at the age of 73. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; and two brothers-in-law.

He is survived by his wife, Anna of Ruthven; his children, Gina (Butch) Grund of Ruthven, Jeff (Christine) Vanderhoff of Hardin, KY, Doug Vanderhoff and his fianc, Brenda of Dickens, and John (Amy) Vanderhoff of Ruthven; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother; three sisters.
