A slow offensive start against an inspired Spencer team would deal Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks a 46-51 loss Friday night in Lakes Conference hoops. The loss drops Emmetsburg to 6-3 in the league and 8-6 overall.
Spencer would jump out to an 11-2 lead before Emmetsburg could get any type of offensive flow in the opening quarter, and the margin would stay at 11 to end the first quarter with the Lady E-Hawks trailing 11-22. Emmetsburg put up a good defensive effort in the second period, but couldn't equal the offensive effort, as they would hold Spencer to four points, but still trailed 17-25 at the intermission.
In the third quarter, Emmetsburg would outscore Spencer 12-8 but trailed 33-29 at the end of the quarter.

The four point deficit was as close as the Lady E-Hawks would get to the Tigers the rest of the way, as Spencer was able to add 18 points to their total while Emmetsburg managed 20 points, but the early hole was too much for Emmetsburg to dig out of.
Ashton Connelly would lead Emmetsburg on the night with 20 points and four steals, while Alexa Naig chipped in 16 points. Bailey Naig came up with four points and grabbed seven rebounds and Tegan Olson also scored seven points, while Michaela Rehm added two points to the effort.
Emmetsburg returns to action tonight on the road as they travel to Storm Lake to meet the Tornadoes and then return home on Friday to host Western Christian in Lakes Conference action.
