Thomas E. Reilly 1953-2014

Funeral service for Thomas E. Reilly of Emmetsburg was held Monday, Jan. 27, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Richard Ries officiated. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Eugene Reilly, 60, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014.

Thomas was born on July 10, 1953 in Sioux City to Joseph O'Donnell and Betty Lou (Lensing) Reilly. He attended school in Sioux City at St. Joseph Catholic School through eighth grade. He then attended Bishop Heelan High School where he played baseball, basketball, football and track. He lettered in all four sports and set a school record in track. In 1968 the family moved to Phoenix, Arizona where Tom graduated from Cortez High School in 1971.

After graduation, Tom started working as a brick layer and continued in this profession for 30 years. He moved to Spencer where he worked in maintenance for five years for Ray Narsi.

Tom and Cindy Johnson were married on May 20, 2003. They made their home in Emmetsburg where Tom a self employed contractor.

Tom was an avid fisherman. He was a big fan of Notre Dame and the Chicago Bears.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cindy of Emmetsburg; his mother, Betty Klanderud of Hartington, NE; children, Jennifer (Paul) Wade of Lake- side, AZ, Susan (Jamie) Manwarren of Emmetsburg, Patricia (Michael) Buckholtz of Belle Chasse, LA, and Becky Hedman of Pierre, SD; brothers, Bill (LuAnn) Reilly of Waxahachie, TX, and Kevin (Sharon) Reilly of Sioux City; sisters, Deborah (Ed) Schwegler of Hubbard, NE, Karen (Jerry) Iler of Kennesaw, GA, and Christina (Jim) Knudson of Silver Dale, WA; his grandchildren; two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Reilly; step father, Kenneth Klanderud; and granddaughter, Jadie Lynn Marie Manwarren.
