The Graettinger-Terril Ruthven-Ayrshire Titans collected an 80-51 win over Corwith-Wesley-LuVerne in boys basketball action Friday night at Corwith.
The Titans would play a back and forth opening quarter with the Panthers for a 19-16 lead at the end of the first quarter, but in the second frame GT/RA?cut loose. The offense opened up big while the defense put the stops on CWL, limiting them to just six points as the Titans led 45-22 at the break.
GT/RA kept up the offensive and defensive pressure in the second half, getting the advantage of the continuous clock to aide their efforts with a 69-36 lead at the end of the third quarter. In the final frame, the Titans put the game away with the 80-51 final tally.
Andy Geelan racked up the triple-double, with 26 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Connor Sturgill dropped in 18 points, while Taylor Enderson and Mason McGrauth both scored 10 points each in the effort. Lane Reiman added eight points, with Noah Stukey scoring four points. Cole Hagedorn and Nick Josephson rounded out the effort with two points each as they improved to 10-1 on the season.
The Titans handed Laurens-Marathon a 54-46 defeat in action Jan. 9.
The Titans would take an early 11-8 lead before posting a 24-22 lead at the intermission. The Titans would continue to play solid defense in the second half and got better flow to their offense to take a 35-38 lead going into the final quarter before claiming the 54-46 margin of victory.
For the Titans, Andy Geelan had the hot hand with 13 points, while Connor Sturgill and Taylor Enderson would both score12 points each. Noah Stukey added nine points, while Jared Sikora and Lane Reiman both added three points each and Mason McGrauth tallied two points in the effort. Andy Geelan would add nine rebounds, while Mason McGrauth dished out six assists.
GT/RA would come up with a lopsided win on Friday, Jan. 10, as they manhandled Cay Central-Everly by a 75-20 score.
The game was close in the first quarter, with GT/RA posting a 17-10 lead after one quarter of play, but the Titans shifted gears in the second quarter and extended their lead to 35-14 at the break. In the third quarter, the continuous clock would come into play as GT/RA expanded the lead to a 54-16 score at the end of the quarter and then went on with the reserves finishing out the game for the 75-20 win.
GT/RA got 17 points from Noah Stukey, while Connor Sturgill tallied 15 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for the double-double. Mason McGrauth added 11 points, and Andy Geelan scored 10 points and dished out 10 assists on the night. Lane Reiman scored six points, while Taylor Enderson added five points and Nick Josephson and Jared Sikora came up with four points each and Joe Tonderum had three points.
