RAETTINGER -- Funeral service for Rose Marie Hoffman of Graettinger was held Saturday, Jan. 4, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Graettinger. The Rev. Msgr. Michael Sernett and Father Thomas Geelan were Celebrants.
Interment was in St. Jacob's Catholic Cemetery, Graettinger. Henry-Olson Funeral Home in Graettinger was in charge of arrangements.
Rose Marie Hoffman, the daughter of Conrad and Mary (Pittman) Tiefenthaler, was born Aug. 30, 1925 in Sac County, Iowa. She died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, at North Iowa Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, at the age of 88.
Rose attended school in Breda and graduated from St. Bernard's High School.
On Nov. 18, 1947, she was united in marriage to John Hoffman in Breda. The couple moved to the Estherville area where they farmed for six years before moving to a farm near Graettinger in 1954, until 1999 when John passed away.
Rose was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Graettinger and active in the Rosary Society.
Left to cherish Rose's memory are her children: Dale (Ginger) Hoffman of Graettinger, Janet Griffin of Omaha, NE, Linda (Joe) Schaller of Graettinger, Ronda (Steve) Olesen of Graettinger; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Almyra (Marlo) Weitl; brothers-in-law, Bud Brincks and Lambert (Marge) Hoffman; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Hoffman, Arlene Eischeid and Millie Hoffman; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; her brothers, Erville (Helen) Tiefenthaler and Paul (Mary) Tiefenthaler; sisters, Evelyn (Norbert) Ludwig, Ethel (Leonard) Hoffman and Ruth Brincks; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Norbert Hoffman, Louis (Johanna) Hoffman, Joe Hoffman, Albert Hoffman, Msgr. Lawrence Hoffman, Mary Ann (Joe) Handlos, Andy Hoffman, Norbert Hoffman and Marvin Eischeid; and several nieces and nephews.
