HASTINGS, NE -- Gordon A. Myers of Hastings, NE, passed away Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, NE
Services will be Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 10:30 a.m. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings, NE. Burial, with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations, will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE.
Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Visitation will continue Tuesday, Nov. 5, one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family.
Gordon was born Feb. 15, 1931 in Emmetsburg, to Albert D. and Marie (Brewer) Myers. He graduated from Emmetsburg High School. Gordon served and was a Sergeant with the U.S. Marine Corps from Nov. 4, 1947 until Nov. 3, 1951.
He married Jeanine Laux on July 13, 1952 at First Christian Church in Hastings, NE. Gordon worked for Roberts Dairy as a salesman and route driver before his retirement. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, V.F.W., and American Legion. Gordon was very proud of being one of the "Chosin Few".
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Lois Creveling, Charles Myers, Audrey Edwards, and Kathleen Thompson.
Survivors include: his wife, Jeanine Myers of Hastings, NE; sons: Dan Myers and Shane Myers, both of Lincoln, NE; his brother,John Myers of Emmetsburg; sisters: Mary and Homer Ewoldt of Spencer, and June Meusburger of South Carolina.
