Marlys J. Macomber 1933-2013

Funeral service for Marlys J. Macomber was held Saturday, Oct. 26 at Grace Baptist Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. John Macomber officiated.

Burial was in Valley View Cemetery, Graettinger. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.

Marlys Joy Macomber, daughter of Melvin and Verna (Allen) Bratrud, was born June 30, 1933 in Graettinger. She received her education in Graettinger, graduating from Graettinger High School.

Marlys was employed at the Bethesda Lutheran Hospital in St. Paul, MN where she was a nurse's aid.

On June 3, 1962 Marlys was united in marriage to David Macomber at Blakjer Lutheran Church in Fenton. Marlys and David lived in Arkansas where they worked at a Bible Camp until her father needed care. They then moved to Emmetsburg to be near him. Marlys was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

Marlys passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013 at her home in Emmetsburg, at the age of 80. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister-in-law, Ardis Bratrud; and a nephew, David Bratrud.

She is survived by her husband, David of Emmetsburg; her children, Nathan Macomber of Greenbrier, AR, Stephen Macomber of Jasper, GA, Timothy Macomber of Vilonia, AR, and Andrew Macomber of Denver, CO; 13 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, Allan Bratrud of Jackson, MN; two sisters, Donna Olson of Great Bend, KS and Judy Olsen of Mankato, MN.
