The Algona Area Girls Swim Team dropped a double duel to Spencer and Storm Lake on Thursday, Oct. 3, falling to Spencer by a 79-15 score and then falling to Storm Lake by a 61-33 tally.

"Against Spencer we just kept letting them go first and second and we just have to finish stronger," explained Coach Jim Fisher. "It was the same with Storm Lake. We just did not finish strong, but that happens with a young team. We have to be more consistent from meet to meet."

Top finishes against Spencer were Jessica Anderson in the 200 free at 2.20.96 and Maddie Stubbs in the 200 IM at 2.39.20.

The swim team dropped a double duel on Monday night to Spencer 83-11 and Storm Lake 63-31.

"It was not a good night score-wise, but there were seven girls swimming events for the first or second time this season, so they are learning what it takes to swim an event," noted Coach Fisher. "On the positive side, there were eight season's best times in the meet, even though we had to juggle our line up due to illness but it gave some girls an opportunity to get in and try some new events."
