RUTHVEN -- Funeral service for Mildred "Peanuts" Williamson was held Monday, Sept. 30, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven. The Rev. Tom Summerfield officiated.
Interment was in Crown Hill Cemetery, Ruthven. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven was in charge of arrangements.
Mildred Mae "Peanuts" Mason was born to Cleo and Francis Mason on Jan. 7, 1926 in Ashton. She grew up in the Sac City and Spencer areas.
On Jan. 6, 1945 Peanuts and Gene Williamson were married in Jackson, MN. To this union four children were born.
Peanuts was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven, American Legion Auxiliary, Red Hats, and Women's Club. She also served on the board at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg. She was involved in the planning and helping of the Harvest Dinner held at Zion each year. Peanuts was Sunday School Superintendent for a number of years and also led her sons Boy Scout troops over the years.
Gene and Peanuts owned Gene's Place in Ruthven. Peanuts' love of cooking continued at R&R Grocery Store where she made salads for their deli.
Peanuts passed away Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 at St. Luke's Home in Spencer.
Peanuts was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Joe and Cliffton Mason; and a sister, Sally Malm; a son, Ron Williamson; and a daughter Connie Severson.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Linda Hansen (Dar) of Ruthven; son, Rich Williamson (Julie) of Ruthven; son-in-law, Dave Severson of Spencer; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren; a sister, Gertie Simpson (Clive) of Ogden; a brother, Jim Mason (Ruth) of Sac City.
