CEDAR FALLS- Eunice L. Purdy, 86, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at Sartori Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 20, 1927, in Cylinder, daughter of Andrew and Clara Benson Berkland. She married Richard Purdy on June 10, 1950 in Cylinder.
She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a teaching degree and taught elementary school a total of 35 years in Rockwell City, Waterloo, Denver, and Cedar Falls. She was a member of Nazareth Evangelical Luth- eran Church, Cedar Falls.
Survivors include her husband, Richard; daughter, Nancy (Paul) Christensen of Cedar Falls; son, Joe (Deb) of Cedar Falls; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one brother, Melvin (Violet) Berkland of Cylinder; and brother-in-law, Robert Purdy of Cedar Falls.
Preceded in death by a sister, Ida Cody; seven brothers: Ernest, Bert, Clarence, Oscar, Benny, Raymond and Amos Berkland.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Nazareth Evangelical Lutheran Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls.
Visitation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Richardson Funeral Service in Cedar Falls.
