Emmetsburg News

Memorial service for Wyatt John Sinning of Emmetsburg will be held Thursday, July 11, at 1 p.m. in the Smith Wellness Center gymnasium in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Nicholas Thackery of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg will officiate. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.

Wyatt John Sinning, son of Jesi Sinning and Luke Schmitt, was born May 24, 1995 in Mason City. He received his education at Emmetsburg High School and would be a Senior this fall. Wyatt was also currently attending Iowa Lakes Community College where he was excelling as a student in the welding program. Wyatt had a deep interest in not only welding, but working on tractors, cars and trucks. His dream after completing high school and college was to farm with his grandfather.

Wyatt had been employed at Trettin/HET, Jensvold Motor, Sinning Farms, Inc., Christensen Farms and currently at Fareway. All of these jobs allowed him to do what he loved most, whether that was working with autos, being on the farm or helping others. He was an active member of Future Farmers of America.

Wyatt was a country boy through and through. He loved country music, cowboy boots, and getting dirty on his four wheeler. Wyatt loved being outdoors and going fishing with his grandparents. He had a big heart and was always looking out for his friends and family. He had a deep devotion to his mother and helping care for his little sister, who he loved with all his heart. Wyatt was always ready to share a joke with his friends to cheer them up. His big smile was not only beautiful but contagious as well and brought joy to those that were around him.

Wyatt passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at the age of 18. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Jesi Sinning of Emmetsburg, and Luke Schmitt of Green, IA; brothers, Maverick and Marshall Schmitt of Lake Mills; his sister, Georgia Marsh of Emmetsburg; maternal grandparents, Mike and Pat Sinning; paternal grandparents, Paul and Sylvia Hedrick; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; great grandparents, Eleanor Sinning and Myron and Sally Stanlander.

Wyatt was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jo-Jo and Peg Parker, Norval Sinning and Dave Schmitt; and great grandparents, Nick and Dorothy Schmitt.
