Martin D. Ricklefs, 73, of Globe, AZ and formerly of Ayrshire, went to be with his Lord on May 24, 2013.
Martin was born on Dec. 10, 1939, to A.P. (Pete) Ricklefs and Arlene (Mat-thiesen)?Ricklefs. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Ayrshire and graduated from Ayrshire High School in 1957.
He moved to Globe, AZ, to work for Killian Printing Service. From 1961 to 1963 he served with the U.S. Army in the Security Agency. Martin returned to Globe in 1964 and became co-owner and operator of PABSCO Printing Company, Inc. He sold the business in 1985.
In 1968 he became a volunteer with the Globe Fire Department, retiring from there in 1998 as Fire Chief. He was avery active with the Piranha Swim Team and the Lion's Club. In his retirement years he enjoyed camping and fishing in the White Mountain area.
Martin worked from 1999 to 2005 for the U.S. Forest Service at the Signal Peak Lookout Tower. He also was a driver for Lamont Mortuary.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Skip Allen; and a nephew, Douglas Allen.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Pat; son, Douglas (Iryna); daughter, Kandi (Justin Gabler); grandchildren, Darian and Trace Gabler, all of Globe, AZ; two sisters, Darlene Allen of Spencer and Fern (Gordon) Rouse of Ayrshire; as well as his nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were held at the Lamont Mortuary in Globe, AZ, on Saturday, June 1, with the Rev. Jim Knight officiating.
