Lady Wolverines Take To Track For First Time

WEST BEND After having a meet cancelled on April 2 due to cold weather, the Lady Wolverines of West Bend-Mallard/Gil-more City-Bradgate ran their first meet of the season on Friday, April 5, at the Clay CentralEverly Maverick Relays in Spencer. The Lady Wolverines would get a good measure of where they were at for early in the season.

First place finishes were earned by the 4x800 relay, as the foursome of Alicia Mogler, Anna Zaugg, Ashley Schmidt and Portlind Schmidt and the 4x200 relay, with Kayla Banwart, Lauren Thatcher, Ashely Schmidt and Harrison Schmidt. Also finishing first were the 4x400 meter relay, with Ashley Schmidt, Lauren Thatcher, Portlind Schmidt and Kenzie Grimm.

Kenzie Grimm would finish first in the 400 meter run, while Portlind Schmidt took first in the 800 meter run and 200 meter dash was won by Kenzie Grimm.

Earning second place finishes were the Distance Medley relay of Harrison Schmidt, Kayla Banwart, Erin Larsen and Maddie Gehrt. Also finishing second was the Sprint Medley relay, with Rachel Wirtz, Alicia Mogler, Kayla Banwart and Erin Larsen. Kenzie Grimm took second in the 100 meter dash and Anna Zaugg took second in the 1500 meter run.

A third place finish was earned by Rachel Wirtz in the 100 meter hurdles and Liesel Schwartzkopf placed fourth in the shot put.

The Lady Wolverines would tie for second place with North Union behind Clay Central-Everly in team points.
