Iowa Lakes Community College softball program will hold Softball Clinics on Saturday, April 20, and Sunday, April 21, in Estherville.
The clinic will be divided into three units. The first will be a Youth Clinic serving those ages 5-12 where participants will go over the 'mechanics' of throwing & catching, fielding, base running and hitting. That session will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on April 20.
The Sunday, April 21, clinics will focus on Advanced Hitting and Pitching and are open to all ages. The Hitting clinic runs from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Topics covered will include hitting mechanics, drills and mental training.
The Lakers Softball team has another double-header following the hitting clinic, which starts at 12 p.m.
After the games are finished, the last clinic will begin. It's an Advanced Pitching Clinic, which will be held from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. It will cover pitching mechanics, including the drop/change/rise/curve pitches as well as mental training for a winning attitude. This is also open to all ages; however, each pitcher is required to bring a catcher and organizers would prefer it is a parent or coach.
Participants may select one or all three of the clinics. All sessions will be held at the Softball Field or Christensen Building on the Estherville campus of Iowa Lakes.
