Madelyn Andre 1930-2013

Funeral service for Madelyn Andre will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 12, at the United Methodist Church in Graettinger. The Rev. Mike Shaffer will officiate.

Inurnment will be in Valley View Cemetery, Graettinger. The Martin-Mattice Funeal Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation for Madelyn will be Thursday, April 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Graettinger.

Madelyn Deloris Andre, daughter of Louis and Cleo (Anderson) Lammers, was born May 23, 1930, in rural Graettinger. She received her education in Graettinger, graduating in 1949.

On Sept. 15, 1952 Madelyn was united in marriage to Kenneth Andre at the United Methodist Church in Graettinger. Kenneth was stationed at Fort Lee, VA at this time so he and Madelyn made their home there until 1954.

In 1955 Kenneth and Madelyn began farming near Graettinger.

Madelyn was employed at the Graettinger School, and later at Lakeside Lutheran Home. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Graettinger. She was also a member of the Christiansen- Bonnicksen American Legion Auxiliary.

Madelyn passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the Palo Alto County Hospital, at the age of 82.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law.

She is survived by her children, Barbara (Keith) Christensen of Ringsted, Joy Andre (William Engelkes) of Jackson, MN, and Karl (Shelly) Andre of Wellman; 14 grandchildren; her brother, Milo Lammers of Graettinger; sisters, Darlene (Bill) Croft of Estherville, Eunice (Emil) Oeltjenbruns of Mountain Lake, MN, Sharon Claypool of Wallingford, and Maxine (Glen) Johnson of Holstein; several nieces and nephews.
