The proposed budget for the Palo Alto Conservation Board included constructing camping cabins at its Huston Park campground at Lost Island Lake.
The Redwood Campground on the lake already offers 5 camping cabins, 3 motel units, and several overnight and seasonal campspots. A huge investment of private dollars purchased, updated and is expanding the Redwood.
Using public funds to compete with the Redwood should not be pursued. This is an area where the Conservation's budget could be cut and allow the two entities to continue to complement each other.
