The Cost Of Going Green

February 19, 2013
Emmetsburg News

To the Editor:

Is Going Green bankrupting the country?

"Someone once said the Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases:?If it moves tax it, if it keeps moving regulate it, if it stalls subsidize it."

Solar panels, wind energy, biofuels-gas, diesel and cellulose, batteries, electric cars have cost us billions if not trillions of dollars.

Solar panels cost us millions - bankrupt

Battery Co's millions - bankrupt

GM's electric car 6 billion, a car nobody wants, the competition already has them.

Wind energy over 13 billion every year

Ethanol has cost us in the billions

Biodiesel billions. I forget algae costs.

This year they added 59 million for cellulosic biofuel, 2.2 billion for biodiesel and the list keeps growing.

About 7 years ago a ribeye steak cost about $12 at most restaurants, today it's about $20 or more. Land was 3-4 thousand an acre - now it's 13-14 thousand per acre.

Are your groceries costing more?

If you have a green idea, talk to the government. If it looks good they will give you the money. If it fails - big deal. What's a few more trillion wasted.

U.S. taxpayers don't care. It's a green job creator - right? If the industry can't stand by itself, it should fail. Period.
