Funeral Mass for Betty J. Brennan of Emmetsburg will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. Burial is in South St. John's Cemetery, Depew. The Joyce Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.
Betty Josephine O'Brien was born Nov. 25, 1932 in Emmetsburg, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Evans) O'Brien. She attended St. Mary's Academy in Emmetsburg.
On Aug. 28, 1950, Betty was united in marriage to Kenneth Hagen. The couple lived on a farm near Cylinder where they raised their three children. Kenny passed away on Jan. 27, 1981.
Betty married Francis Brennan on Feb. 13, 1982, and they made their home in Emmetsburg. Francis passed away on June 2, 2005.
Betty was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was active in her church circle and choir. Betty enjoyed camping, traveling and having coffee with family and friends. She loved to shop, but most of all, Betty loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was always an avid supporter of all of their activities.
On Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, Betty passed away at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg. She was 80.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Kenny and Francis; three brothers, Carl, Dean and Bill O'Brien; and a sister, Mary Jean Fergason.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Kathy Rohe (John) of Templeton, Rev. Tom Hagen (Karen) of Pomeroy, and Don Hagen (Brenda) of Cylinder; eight grandchildren; four step-children; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bev O'Brien of Worthington; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Palo Alto County.
